Tips on getting your Podcast seen

When we started recording podcasts, we thought all we had to do was hand the recording over to the customer, and they would do the rest. Wrong! So far, all our customers have said, so what do I do now?
Adding a podcast to your website is a great way to engage your audience! Here’s a general guide to help you add a podcast to your site:

  • YouTube: Create a FREE YouTube Channel and upload your Podcast Episodes. You can now embed your Podcasts onto your Website. You can also host them on your website or through a third-party podcast hosting platform.

  • Hosting Platforms: Use services like Podbean and Buzzsprout. These platforms generate an RSS feed that you can link to your website and Apple Podcasts.

  • Self-Hosting: If you want to host directly on your website, upload the audio files to your server and create an RSS feed manually.

  • An RSS feed is a critical part of podcasting. It allows podcast directories like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or Google Podcasts to fetch your episodes and updates.

  • If you use a hosting service, they’ll automatically generate an RSS feed for you.

  • If you’re self-hosting, you’ll need to manually create an RSS feed using XML code for your episodes.

  • To make it easy for users to listen directly on your website, you can embed a podcast player.

Hosting your Podcast

  • Using Hosting Services: Most podcast platforms (like Podbean, Anchor, or Buzzsprout) offer embed codes for a podcast player you can simply copy and paste into your website.
  • Using a WordPress Plugin: If you’re using WordPress, there are several plugins like PowerPress or Simple Podcasting that allow you to integrate podcasts seamlessly.
  • Custom HTML Player: If you’re not using a plugin, you can embed a custom player using HTML5 audio tags, or you can use a third-party service like Podcastpage or Cedar for sleek podcast players.
